A win is a win, even if it isn’t pretty. And Xander Schauffele, who often in recent years has seen his not-pretty play in the final rounds cost him a win, is grateful for another victory, no matter how it comes.

On an up-and-down Sunday at the Renaissance Club (four birdies and four bogeys), Schauffele shot a closing even-par 70 to win the Genesis Scottish Open by a stroke over Kurt Kitayama, finishing at seven-under 273.

“This was stressful. I’m not going to put make-up on it,” Schauffele said.

In the process, the 28-year-old Californian won his third straight start, following up his Travelers Championship win two weeks earlier and then the JP McManus Pro-Am in ireland, and heads into next week’s Open Championship with as much momentum as any player in the field.

Prior to the Travelers win, Schauffele had famously failed to win an individual title on the PGA Tour since January 2019, despite victory in the 2021 Olympics and a team win with Patrick Cantlay at the Zurich Classic in April. He now has seventh career PGA Tour wins, not to mention two DP World Tour titles — the Scottish Open is the first co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour as part of their strategic alliance announced in November 2020.

With the victory, Schauffele pulled in a prize money payout of $1.4 million from an overall purse in Scotland of $8 million for the Rolex Series event.

Below is the prize money payout for each golfer who made the cut.
