The Aramco Team Series tour heads to Spain this Europe this month and we have a Spanish Armada ready to fight for the title as a host of home hopes were announced on Tuesday.

The Costa Del Sol is the place to be in the Order of Merit with the same name on the Ladies European Tour as the latest of the five $1million Aramco tournaments returns to Sotogrande in August.

Fresh the Aramco Team Series — London, ATS now turns its focus to the south coast of Spain, where a stacked field will contend at the La Reserva Club, Sotogrande.

The 2021 debut event welcomed the likes of major-winners and Solheim Cup stars Paula Creamer and Lizette Salas, plus English trio Georgia Hall, Charley Hull and Bronte Law, whose three-way battle at Centurion last weekend brought the London meeting to an epic finale, with Law eventually sinking a majestic 50-foot eagle putt to claim the individual title.

With more big names to come, the series announced on Tuesday the Spanish stars who will compete from August 18-20.

They will be led by five-time Solheim Cup star and Spain’s top-ranked Carlota Ciganda.

Among the other Spanish stars are Nuria Iturrioz, Maria Hernandez, Carmen Alonso, Paz Marfa Sans, Elena Hualde, Elia Folch, Harang Lee, Luna Sobron Galmes, Marta Martin and Marta Perez.

Joining them will be breakout star and local hero Ana Peláez Triviño, the 2022 Madrid Women’s Open champion, who turned professional only a year ago at the debut Aramco Team Series — Sotogrande.

“Coming back to play another Ladies European Tour event in Spain is going to be something really special, especially with it being the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande, the tournament I made my professional debut in last year,” said Peláez Triviño.

“I have so many amazing memories of that week, from playing alongside many of the golfers I looked up to growing up, to the incredible support me and all the Spanish players felt from the fans who came out in big numbers to watch and be part of a great weekend at La Reserva, where the golf course was spectacular.

“On a personal level, I’ve had almost the year of my dreams since playing the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande: from heading back to the States to compete, to being invited to play in the Madrid Ladies Open and then winning that tournament, to posting strong finishes in both the Aramco Team Series events in Bangkok and in London – it’s been crazy! I can’t wait to round it off back in Sotogrande in August.”

The Aramco Team Series — Sotogrande will be the third of five $1million Aramco Team Series tournaments on the LET calendar this season, following May’s Bangkok opener and June’s London event. Sotogrande will be followed by Aramco Team Series events in New York and Jeddah, all of which are played to a unique format in which three LET professionals play in teams with one amateur player.
