England’s Hayley Davis shot a second-round 68 to go with her opening 69 to move into a two-stroke lead at nine-under at Centurion Club, St Albans, for the 2022 Aramco Team Series — London.

The youngster, who says Abu Dhabi Golf Club is her favourite course, shot seven birdies and two bogeys to take over at the top on Friday from Sweden’s Sofie Bringner, who was among the afternoon starters. Unfortunately, she had a tough day, and a six-over 69 dropped her down to a share of 16th.

Spain’s Maria Hernandez also had a fine Friday, shooting 66 to move up to joint-fifth spot on five-under. Bronte Law’s 71 took her to seven-under, two behind Davis in second spot, with Georgia Hall, the Aramco Ladies International champion, sitting in T3 alongside Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall on six-under.

Meanwhile, Olivia Cowan shot the event’s first hole-in-one on the second at Centurion.

The German, who has just recovered from injury (tennis elbow), was struggling on Thursday and signed for a five-over 78 but an ace early on gave her the chance to make it the final day’s action on Saturday on the cutline at four-over.
