As Paul Casey, Jason Kokrak, Charles Howell III and Henrik Stenson make their LIV Golf debuts at Bedminster in New Jersey alongside stars such as Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, there is another major champion who is stretching his (hopefully now healed) legs and ready to have a bash at the new series.

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson has long been linked with the newest series in world golf, but a torn meniscus in his knee has left him on the bench for the first three events in England and the US.

The former world No. 2 appears to have recovered from that operation and, while New Jersey is just a little too soon, he seems set to play at The International, Boston in September.

Watson has been sidelined since the PGA Championship in May, but reports in the UK have the left-hander set for his LIV Golf debut over the Labour Day weekend in the States.

Bubba has two Green Jackets in his wardrobe, thanks to success in 2012 and 2014, plus plenty of silverware over two decades in the game.
