After all the hints, Bryson DeChambeau has followed Dustin Johnson in his LIV Golf Invitational Tour U-turn.

The American big-hitter, who has been out of action recently following surgery on his hand, had been rumoured to be the next big name to sign up for the Saudi-backed lucrative tour.

And Sky Sports broke the official news after speaking to his agent on Wednesday evening.

As the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series event began with the pro-am on Wednesday at Centurion Club in England, The Telegraph had reported that DeChambeau, Rickie Fowler and Patrick Reed were set to sign up.

While this week’s event will come too early, all three are set to play in the second tournament at Pumpkin Ridge, Portland, in the US from June 30 to July 2.

The 28-year-old DeChambeau’s agent Brett Falkoff confirmed his participation to Sky Sports. Unlike Johnson, however, he will not resign from the PGA Tour “after speaking to commissioner Jay Monahan and his sponsors on Tuesday evening”, according to the Golf Channel.

Falkoff said: “Bryson has always been an innovator. Having the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something unique has always been intriguing to him. Pro golf as we know it is changing and it’s happening quickly.”

The English newspaper The Telegraph had reported earlier on Wednesday that Rickie Fowler and Patrick Reed are also both on board. Both Reed and Fowler are huge draws in the US, with strong fanbases.

Earlier this year, DeChambeau distanced himself from the LIV Golf Series, and said he was not prepared to leave the PGA “at this stage in his career”.

But things do indeed change quickly, and, after former world No. 1 Johnson confirmed his participation earlier this week, Bryson and co also seem to be on board.

Fowler has also gone on record stating he is interested in taking part in the series in the future, but he is not competing in London.
