As the players get set to tee off for the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series at Centurion Club in England, the saga that has taken the golfing world by storm took yet another twist on Wednesday, as reports emerged that more big names are on the way to join the new series.

After Dustin Johnson’s about-turn to sign up for the lucrative Saudi-backed event earlier this week, The Telegraph in the UK has reported that Bryson DeChambeau is set to do the same — with Patrick Reed also set to join the likes of Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood on the money-spinning tour.

American DeChambeau is to be announced “imminently”, according to The Telegraph.

The English newspaper also reported that Rickie Fowler will also sign up soon. Both Reed and Fowler are huge draws in the US, with strong fanbases.

Earlier this year, DeChambeau distanced himself from the LIV Golf Series, and said he was not prepared to leave the PGA “at this stage in his career”.

However, it appears there may be more news to come on his future in the coming days, after former world No. 1 Johnson confirmed his participation earlier this week, having also previously stated he would not contend.

Fowler has also gone on record stating he is interested in taking part in the series in the future, but he is not competing in London.
