Patrick Reed has been announced as the latest in a growing list of top golfers who will join the LIV Golf Tour after his participation in the second event in Portland was confirmed.
The 2018 Masters champion will join up with the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson on the Saudi-backed tour from June 30 at Pumpkin Ridge, Oregon.
The final round of the inaugural event at Centurion Club, London is currently ongoing.
“I am super excited to join,” said Reed. “I have been watching all weekend the action in London. It is so refreshing to see team golf again, like college. Plus the 36-holes makes it more like a sprint, which will be fascinating. The turnout, excitement and energy is brilliant. Portland can’t get here fast enough for me.”
“The growing roster of LIV Golf players gets even stronger today with a player of Patrick Reed’s caliber. He has a proven track record as one of the most consistent competitors in pro golf and adds yet another big presence at our tournaments,” said Greg Norman, LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner. “He’s a Major champion who has had a significant impact playing international team competitions, and he’ll bring another impressive dynamic to our team-based format at LIV Golf.”
Reed has competed in more than 300 events since turning pro in 2010. The 31-year-old has finished in the top 10 72 times, including 25 top-three finishes. Reed has represented the United States in three Ryder Cups and three Presidents Cups in which he’s helped lead his country to four victories in addition to being a two-time Olympian.
Shortly after the Reed news, Pat Perez also confirmed he is joining LIV Golf.
