Three UAE golfers beat off stiff competition from across the country to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play alongside golf’s biggest names in the DP World Tour Championship Pro-Am event.
The leading man, lady, and junior from the Luckiest Ball on Earth Grand Final were crowned at Jumeirah Golf Estates. UAE golfers Deepak Nicholas, Anna Jentgen and Samuel Collier, who won with 40, 45 and 46 points respectively, will play alongside the top 50 players on the DP World Tour Rankings at the DP World Tour Championship’s Rolex Pro-Am event on November 15. The Luckiest Ball on Earth Pro-Am team will be completed by one of the top 50 players on the Race to Dubai.
First launched in 2011, the Luckiest Ball on Earth competition has proven a sure-fire hit with the UAE’s burgeoning golf scene, giving amateurs the chance to rub shoulders with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick at the fifth and final Rolex Series event of the season at Jumeirah Golf Estates, which takes place between November 17-20.
The annual competition is open to all golfers who hold an Official Club Handicap recognised by the EGF (maximum 28 for men and juniors and 36 for ladies).
Qualifying tournaments were held at 19 golf clubs across the UAE from September 3 – October 22, with Deepak Nicholas playing at JA The Resort, Anna Jentgen at The Els Club, and Samuel Collier at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. The leading players from each event earned their spot to play in the Grand Final on the Fire Couse at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Besides playing alongside the world’s best golfers, the winners from the Grand Final event also receive prizes including premium experience tickets for the DP World Tour Championship, F&B vouchers for Jumeirah Golf Estate restaurants and Topgolf and Golf Superstore vouchers.
“We are thrilled for Deepak, Anna and Samuel to be able to experience this ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to play with some of the biggest stars in golf,” said Tom Phillips, DP World Tour’s Head of the Middle East.
“This couldn’t have happened without the support of the 19 golf clubs involved in the qualifying rounds and the Emirates Golf Federation who sanction this wonderful local golf initiative.”
