John Parry produced a bogey-free seven-under-par final round to secure victory in the Delhi Challenge on the Challenge Tour at Classic Golf & Country Club, Gurugram, Haryana, India.

The Englishman, carded rounds of 66-69-68-65 on his way to a 20 under-par total to win by one stroke ahead of countrymen Jack Senior and Chris Paisley, and UAE National Joshua Grenville-Wood.

Parry’s last victory came at the Vivendi Cup 2010 as he returns to winning ways 14 years on.

“It’s fantastic,” he said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve won a Challenge Tour or DP World Tour event, so I’m really happy.

“Knowing that I can still do it is really pleasing. I’ve put all the hard work in but it’s about coming out here and getting it done.

Parry started the day three strokes off the lead, from overnight leaders Senior, Grenville-Wood and France’s Martin Couvra, but after the Englishman birdied the opening hole, made two more gains at hole eight and nine to moved him into contention at the turn.

At one point, the 37-year-old shared the lead with five others, but would then birdie four in a row from the 13th hole before parring the 17th and 18th to set the clubhouse target which couldn’t be matched.

This victory moves Parry to the top of the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings.

Joshua Grenville-Wood (left) alongside his coach Jamie from The Els Club, Dubai  competed in his first Rolex Series event earlier this year at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic – Harry Grimshaw

Joshua equals his highest finish on the Challenge Tour, after his second-place finish in last year’s Abu Dhabi Challenge at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. This result in India of rounds of 66, 70, 64 and 69 moves him up to 16th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

Joshua, who plays out of The Els Club Dubai, was granted UAE citizenship last year and now plays his professional golf representing the United Arab Emirates and the Emirates Golf Federation.

Having made three out of his last four cuts on the DP World Tour, Joshua wouldn’t have had these opportunities without the Emirates Golf Federation support, backed by the vision of the UAE government to provide UAE athletes and residents the opportunity to represent the country due to the fact that individuals like Joshua are products of the UAE because they practice and train within the country.

Couvra and Oihan Guillamoundeguy shared fifth place on 18 under par, with five-time DP World Tour winner Alexander Levy and Oliver Farr one shot further back in seventh.

The Road to Mallorca remains in India for next weeks Kolkata Challenge, taking place from March 21-24 at Royal Calcutta Golf Club.
