Extra holes were needed in this year’s Men’s Open at Arabian Ranches to decide the champion, as Dan Byrne defeated Alistair Hess when both players were tied at six-under par after the 36-hole tournament.

The playoff was played on the 18th hole, with both Alistair and Dan securing pars on the first two occasions which took the duo down to the third playoff hole.

Dan found the fairway as Alistair pulled his drive left to the bushes, he had to take an unplayable and found the green with his third shot.

With Dan on the green in two, a two-putt par was enough to claim victory.
