Record-setting South Korean Minkyu Kim is set to tee it up in his home event on LIV Golf this week.

If you aren’t too hot on your Korean golf news, you’ll be excused.

Not only is LIV Golf making its first visit to South Korea this week for LIV Golf Korea presented by Coupang Play, but the league also features a new face who already has a pretty lofty record to his name.

Back in 2018, aged just 17, Minkyu Kim etched his name into the record books as the youngest winner in DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour (formerly the European Challenge Tour) history by winning the D+D REAL Czech Challenge—a record that still stands today.

At 17 years and 64 days, he eclipsed the previous mark of 17 years and 188 days set by Italy’s Matteo Manassero at the European Tour’s 2010 CASTELLÓ MASTERS Costa Azahar.

Since then, Kim has won three further times: twice at the co-sanctioned Kolon Korea Open on the Asian Tour and Korean Tour in 2022 and 2024, and at the Korean Tour’s 2024 Descente Korea Munsingwear Matchplay.

In his young career, Kim has made two major appearances at The Open Championship in 2022 and 2024, thanks to his wins on the Asian Tour.

By topping the Korean PGA Order of Merit in 2024, Kim earned a DP World Tour card for the 2025 season. He is currently placed 90th on the 2025 Race to Dubai Rankings, with his best result of the season so far being a tie for 8th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Now only just turned 24 in March, the South Korean is filling in for the RangeGoats’ Ben Campbell this week at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, as Campbell is sidelined with a wrist injury.

Minkyu joins fellow Korean-born players Kevin Na, Yubin Jang, and Danny Lee in the field this week.
