The Regional Grand Final of the Race to Georgia took place at the Montgomerie Golf Club, Dubai. More than 80 players from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE were in action after 17 Qualifying Rounds over the golf season that attracted over 1,400 amateur golfers, for the Regional Grand Final.

The three winners of the respective divisions qualify for the Race to Georgia World Final in the US in April, along with an opportunity to be a Patron at The Masters to be held April 6-9.

The format was 18 hole Stableford with 75 per cent handicap allowance.

Division A winner was Saudi golfer, Hisham Sultan (The Els Club, Dubai, handicap 3) who shot 39 points. He had nines of gross 37 and 35 at the Montgomerie with five gross birdies to shoot the equivalent of a gross level par 72.

Nicholas Deepak (Meydan, The Track) off an 18 handicap also shot 39 points to win Division B.

Deepak shot 87 in the Regional Grand Final for a four-point winning margin.

The Sponsors Division won by another Saudi golfer, Zeid Alireza (handicap 4) with 33 Stableford points. 

Regional Grand Final winner, Hisham Sultan, said: “To win this trip to the US is a dream come true. I won’t be able to sleep tonight. I am looking forward to playing in the World Final as well as attending The Masters – it is certainly on my bucket list.”
