Trump reveals $3 billion Qatar development with 18-hole course

It has been announced that the Trump Organisation has agreed to build a luxury resort in Qatar, including an 18-hole championship golf course, at an estimated cost of $3 billion.

Donald Trump’s Trump Organisation have revealed a new international venture on Wednesday, with plans to build a luxury golf resort in Qatar — its first foreign deal since Donald Trump took office in 2017.

The development, which will include an 18-hole Trump International Golf Club and Trump-branded beachside villas, will be constructed north of Doha. It is a collaboration between Saudi Arabia’s Dar Global — a London-based arm of Dar Al Arkan — and Qatari Diar, a state-owned real estate company in Qatar.

The Trump Organisation did emphasise that its formal agreement is solely with Dar Global. However, Eric Trump, who currently oversees the family’s golf business, acknowledged both partners: “We are incredibly proud to expand the Trump brand into Qatar through this exceptional collaboration with Qatari Diar and Dar Global.”

There are currently only two championship golf courses in Qatar: Doha Golf Club, designed by Peter Harradine and host of the DP World Tour’s Qatar Masters, and Education City Golf Club, designed by former Ryder Cup player and captain José María Olazábal.

Trump International Golf Club Dubai

The Trump Organisation already has a golfing foothold in the region with Dubai’s Trump International Golf Club, which opened in 2017, and the Trump World Golf Club — still under development and set to be designed by none other than Tiger Woods. The Trump Organisation is also behind the much-anticipated $500 million Trump International Oman.

The announcement comes after the recent news that Donald Trump’s Trump International Golf Links Scotland in Aberdeenshire will host the DP World Tour’s $ 2.75 million Scottish Championship this summer.

Donald Trump is currently touring the Middle East, having visited Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Qatar on Wednesday, and the United Arab Emirates on Friday.
