Sir Nick Faldo has taken care of the design while a familiar face to Dubai golfers will ensure a friendly welcome at Cambodia’s best golf resort

If you prefer your holiday golf with a hearty dollop of culture, chalk up Vattanac Golf Resort in Cambodia as a potential getaway. The Troon International-managed club in Phnom Penh, recently named the country’s best in the annual World Golf Awards, has just opened a second course. Like the existing East course, the new West layout is designed by six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo.

The two courses provide a spectacular setting around famous cultural expressions that include scale models of Khmer historical architectural sites such as Angkor Wat, Preah Vihear and Bayon. Positioned on the 7th hole of the new course, a statue pays homage to King Jayavarman VII from the Angkor period. With former Els Club Dubai GM Karl Whitehead now fulfilling the same role at Vattanac, a friendly welcome is guaranteed alongside the memorable golf.
