Tim Mickelson, who has caddied for his older brother since 2017, is retiring to spend more time with his family.

Phil Mickelson, the captain for HyFlyers GC, announced the news on his social media account Tuesday.

“I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life,” Mickelson wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“So much has changed since he was single and we started working together. He’s found his life partner, Maranda, they’ve had their second son, and hopefully their family will continue to grow. While Tim is retiring from caddying, I’ll always cherish the many great moments we’ve shared on the course and I look forward to many more special moments off the course too.”

Tim Mickelson began caddying for his brother after Phil and his longtime caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay mutually agreed to go their separate ways in June 2017.

In that time, Phil posted eight of his 57 worldwide wins, including the 2021 PGA Championship to become the oldest major champion at age 50. It’s the sixth major win of his World Golf Hall of Fame career.

The brothers continued to work together when Phil became an original member of LIV Golf prior to the inaugural event in 2022 in London.

Phil did not announce a replacement on his social media feed but is expected to have veteran caddie Jon Yarbrough on his bag starting with next week’s LIV Golf Miami.

The two were at Augusta National on Tuesday for a practice round in preparation for next month’s Masters, which Phil has won three times. Last year with Tim on his bag, Phil tied for second behind Jon Rahm.
