The field for the inaugural International Series Macau presented by Wynn has been further strengthened, with a host of LIV Golf League stars including recent Mayakoba champion Joaquin Niemann and Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter set to join an all-star cast at the Macau Golf & Country Club from 14-17 March.

Niemann shot a sensational 59 on his way to a thrilling play-off win in near darkness over Sergio Garcia in Mexico, and the pair will do battle once again, with the 2017 Masters champion already confirmed for Macau’s debut on The International Series.

Chilean Niemann will be joined by his three Torque GC team-mates, Mito Pereira, Sebastian Munoz and Carlos Ortiz in a strong Latin American showing, while Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra, a winner on The International Series in Scotland last year, joins his Fireballs GC captain and compatriot Garcia.

It is the second consecutive tournament that all four of the Torque GC team will play, after the season-opening International Series Oman. Munoz said: “It is going to be pretty cool to have my team in Macau. I feel like it is just a testament to the fact that we do get along really well and we don’t mind spending more time with each other.”

Andy Ogletree will make his 2024 debut on The International Series in Macau after securing his place on the LIV Golf League as reigning rankings champion for 2023. The HyFlyers GC star is one of many high-profile American golfers on show with Harold Varner III from the 4Aces GC team, Caleb Surrat from Legion XIII and wildcard Hudson Swafford also confirmed.

Ogletree is relishing the prospect of returning to Macau after making a flying visit for the spectacular rooftop challenge to unveil the inaugural International Series Macau presented by Wynn in November. He said: “It was an unbelievable place, and an unbelievable hotel.

“The people were so nice and welcoming, and I can’t wait to get there after we have played the LIV Golf event in Hong Kong. It’s such an easy commute and I’m trying to spread the word around here (on LIV Golf) to get as many people as possible to play the event,” added the 25-year-old who won in Qatar and England on The International Series last season.

Majesticks Ian Poulter. LIV Golf

Poulter, nicknamed The Postman because of his impressive record and ability to deliver for Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, was also a popular winner at the Hong Kong Open in 2010. The Majesticks GC team co-captain is one of two English LIV Golf stars who will be in the mix, with compatriot and Cleeks GC stalwart Richard Bland also confirmed.

And to complete a truly international showing from LIV Golf, Korean-American Iron Heads GC captain Kevin Na, South African Stinger GC star Dean Burmester and Ripper GC’s new recruit, Australian Lucas Herbert, are also set to take part with further signings anticipated.

These latest additions enhance a strong field with Smash GC player and 2010 US Open winner Graeme McDowell, Garcia and Crushers GC’s Anirban Lahiri already announced.

Asian Tour talent includes local hero Taichi Kho, and the final three winners on last year’s schedule for The International Series. Thailand’s Sarit Suwannarut, New Zealander Ben Campbell and India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar triumphed in the Volvo China Open, Hong Kong Open and BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE respectively.

The tournament is the second of 10 elevated events on the Asian Tour that offer increased prize funds, world-class destinations, and a pathway to the LIV Golf League for golfers from all over the globe through the season-long International Series Rankings system.

The International Series Macau presented by Wynn follows the International Series Oman on the schedule and is the fourth event of the Asian Tour season.
