Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club welcomed the UAE’s top young talents for the 15th edition of the SGSC Junior Open last weekend.

A full field of junior golfers from across the country gathered to compete for the title, with participants including both boys and girls, ranging in age from seven to 17.

After an intense day of competition, four players emerged tied at the top of the leaderboard: Alexander Rushika, Faye Alblooshi, Aarav Ganguly, and Kieran Gouri, all posting an impressive gross score of two-over-par 74, meaning extra holes were needed.

The playoff that followed was just as dramatic. Bogeys on the first extra hole saw Faye and Aarav bow out, leaving Alexander and Kieran to battle on. After four additional playoff holes, it was on the fifth time of asking where Alexander sealed victory with a superb birdie putt.

Alexander, a proud member of Jumeirah Golf Estates, was thrilled to be crowned the 15th SGSC Junior Open Champion. Faye Alblooshi claimed the runner-up position on countback, while Aarav Ganguly secured third place. Despite a strong playoff showing, Kieran Gouri had to settle for fourth.

In the Net Division, Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club’s own Ye Liu put in a sensational performance, carding a net 62 to take the top spot. Leia MacCallum finished second with a score of 68, and Ishika Kaul claimed third place with a solid net 70.
