It’s finally here! After nearly nine months of waiting, the 2025 Masters and the beginning of the men’s major golf season is upon us. Everyone got an early taste in March, watching Rory McIlroy pull out a playoff victory at the Players Championship and speculating as to whether this helps or hurts his chances of winning at Augusta National and (finally) closing out the career Grand Slam he’s been striving for since 2015. Then at the Valspar Championship, there was a dramatic finish between Viktor Hovland and Justin Thomas, two other popular players looking like they could be factors in Georgia.
This past week, Andrew Novak tried to see if he could sneak in a last-minute invitation to Augusta National, but Brian Harman wasn’t going to have it. The 2023 Open Championship winner went wire-to-wire at the Valero Texas Open, and since he was already in the field thanks to his major, the final field remained unchanged..
Of course, anticipation for the Masters has been bubbling ever since late December when Augusta National started sending out its first batch of invitations to players who had already claimed spots in the field.

When all was said and done, 96 invitees are anticipated to play this week at Augusta National. That does not include past champions who aren’t playing and two amateurs who qualified but turned pro and are no longer eligible. It also discounts Tiger Woods, who had to pull out of the event after having Achilles tendon surgery last month. However, Woods did try to have a little April Fools Day fun.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.

Not long after, however, he gave himself up.
P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess
