The DP World Tour’s Dunhill Links Championship will have one of the strongest fields on tour this season, as alongside Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick , Nicolai Hojgaard and Billy Horschel there will be a host of other familiar faces lined up to play.

South African billionaire businessman and tournament host, Johann Rupert, obviously doesn’t care about the divide in golf and seeing as it’s his tournament he wants the big names there! It will no doubt bring a lot of eyeballs on one of the biggest pro-am events in global golf!

It has been reported recently that Rupert has even overtaken Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote as Africa’s richest person, according to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

What might be a surprise for some, is that 14 of the confirmed tournament players are from LIV Golf.

10 of those 14 confirmed are tournament invitees, and there are still 12 more professional tournament invites to dish out.

The LIV players lined up to play are; Brooks Koepka, Talor Gooch, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Patrick Reed, Pat Perez, Hudson Swafford, David Puig, Eugenio Chacarra, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Dean Burmester, Peter Uihlein and Matt Jones.

The $5 million prize pool tournament, is played across the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links and Kingsbarns Golf Links, and has added a category for the leading 10 available players from within the top 30 of the final 2023 Asian Tour Order of Merit, which is how Eugenio Chacarra and David Puig are in the field.

It is rumoured that Ian Poulter was requested as a sponsor exemption, but the DP World Tour rejected it due to unpaid fines from the Englishman.
