It’s been a rough month for Joel Dahmen. After bricking a three-foot par putt on the 71st hole to choke away a certain victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship in April, Dahmen has missed three straight cuts. Still searching for a much-needed bounce back, the fan favourite stepped up to the 13th tee at the Charles Schwab Challenge on Thursday and found exactly that, reeling in this signature bucket hat-clad hole-in-one. Check it out.

That’s awesome stuff from Dahmen, who narrowly retained his tour card with a 6-under 64 during the final round of the 2024 season at November’s RSM Classic. To keep his job, Dahmen needed a 65 or better heading into his final round at Sea Island, and he delivered when it mattered most. We’re grateful he did too, because Dahmen is one of the tour’s most colourful characters and now he’s back to producing colourful highlights (in this case neon yellow) to match.
Surprisingly, given Dahmen’s mercurial, all-or-nothing style, Thursday’s ace was his first in 224 PGA Tour starts. Here’s hoping that’s a good omen for the Washington native, who will be hoping to avoid another nerve-wracking end to his season in 2025.
