This cameraman either deserves a bonus or an ice bath, how about both?

Prior to Rory and Shane getting their hands on the Zurich Classic on Sunday afternoon, there was the small matter of a playoff against Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer at TPC Louisiana.

With everyone, including players and caddy’s, hopped on buggy’s to go back to the 18th tee box. There was only one option for his cameraman, and that was to get his skates on.

Maybe he got it in the ear from the director as to that’s what he had to do, but I like to think he was devoted to the cause and just used his initiative.

The average speed of a golf buggy is between 12 and 14 miles per hour, while 15 miles per hour is very fast for a runner as it equates to a 4-minute mile, if he was to keep going, that was no issue for this guy.

Also, have a think about the weight of everything he is running with?! This guy while running with camera, attached to a gimble, plus a backpack on, to feed the live shots back to the OB truck all while keeping it steady for the viewers at home.

The cameraman, who is referenced by the commentary team as “J Z” puts in a heroic shift, not only to keep up running alongside the buggy’s, but even changes up the angles and switches between buggy’s!

The clip below picks him up already running alongside them and he continues running for a solid 40 seconds. Good man!

You might recognise J Z’s technique, as this isn’t the first time he’s got his heart rate pumping on a golf course.

At the Tour Championship in Atlanta last summer, he did the same to keep up with Viktor Hovland and his caddy as they were driven to the tee box.

You can catch that one below:

Safe to say J Z is the real MVP!

Let’s not forget though, being a golf cameraman can be a tricky business. How can we let slip this gem from the Scottish Championship in 2020 on the DP World Tour from merely walking backwards!
