It’s nearly November which means that high-school students around this great nation are taking SATs, ACTs and other acronyms with college applications on the mind. Where do you want to spend your next four years? If you have a golf-centric brain, Vanderbilt just shot up the list.

Yes, that’s right. One of the best programs and facilities in golf just improved with this gorgeous $11-million renovation to the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Both the men’s and women’s squads call this locale home, and what a home it is.
There’s a new lobby, a hall of fame, a pro shop, dining rooms, a fitness area, outdoor lookouts and a revitalised locker room (watch out for Tom Kim there). It’s not just the building, however, as the Cleo and Lewis Conner, Sr. Short Game Practice Facility and driving range tee boxes have been fixed up, along with the putting greens which have been designed to replicate competitive play.
The last big-time renovations came back in 2013, and this was all done with seed gifts from alums Brandt Snedeker, Toby Wilt and Lew Conner and their families.
Best of luck to those applying to Vandy. Sure, the education is great, but so is this incredible golf paradise. Perhaps it’s time for the rest of us to start thinking about getting another degree or diving into a Vanderbilt master’s or doctorate program. It’s what Mr. Commodore would want.
