Three of the top United Arab Emirates (UAE) national team ladies will be competing against the best female amateur golfers in the Asia-Pacific.
Intissar Rich, Hannah Alan, and Lara El Chaib will be representing the UAE at this year’s Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) at Hoiana Shores Golf Club, Vietnam.
This is the seventh edition of the WAAP championship, which was created by The R&A and the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) to provide a pathway for Asia’s elite women amateurs.
Players are invited to participate from member countries of the APGC based on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The winner earns invitations to play in three major championships – the AIG Women’s Open, the Amundi Evian Championship, and The Chevron Championship – as well as the Hana Financial Group Championship, the ISPS Handa Australian Open, The Women’s Amateur Championship, and an invitation to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Intissar Rich heads into the championship in strong form on the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Order of Merit. Having just won the Trump Ladies Open at Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, alongside several top finishes on the UAE amateur circuit, Rich will be looking for a strong performance.
In addition to Rich, the UAE will have two collegiate student-athletes competing. Both Lara El Chaib and Hannah Alan are in the middle of their first year playing golf for universities in the United States.
Hannah Alan, who plays her golf at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, USA, will be making her second WAAP appearance. She previously competed in the championship hosted by the EGF at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in 2021. Alan has a national ranking (NCAA) of 1,392.
Lara El Chaib, who plays at Jacksonville State University in Florida, USA, will be making her first appearance at the WAAP. She currently holds a national ranking (NCAA) of 594.
The 2025 WAAP championship will be played at Hoiana Shores Golf Club and hosted by the Vietnam Golf Federation, The R&A, and the APGC. Known for its shoreline links design, Hoiana Shores Golf Club will provide a strong challenge for Asia’s elite women amateurs. This is the first time the championship has been held in Vietnam.
