Sam Mullane is set to make his DP World Tour debut at the 2025 Ras Al Khaimah Championship, as a UAE National player, it’s a moment he’s been looking forward to at Al Hamra Golf Club.
Ahead of his first round, Mullane got in a practice round with fellow UAE National pro-Adrian Otaegui and fellow UAE National team member Ahmad Skaik. An opportunity for Mullane to pick the brains of five-time DP World Tour winner, Otaegui.

“I’ve learned a few things from Adrian,” Mullane said. “On the 17th, we were in the rough, and it was quite thick. We asked him how best to play the shot, and he demonstrated it. He also explained how we could learn from it in the upcoming days and how to improve our chipping around the green.”
Known for its firm fairways and challenging layout, Mullane doesn’t expect it to be easy at Al Hamra, especially with the added factor of the wind.
“Usually, when we play around here at Al Hamra, it’s quite firm anyway,” Mullane said. “Obviously, it’s a windy course as well, so that makes it even longer, but I don’t really mind the distance.”
“My track record around here isn’t great! I sometimes struggle to score well. The tough holes around the turn and the closing stretch are challenging for me, but I’ll just try to play them solidly this week and hopefully score well,” he said with a smile.
As a member of the UAE National Team, Mullane has had the chance to play on some incredible courses around the world, meet amazing people, and represent his country in ways he never imagined before.
“It’s been amazing being part of the UAE National Team. I don’t think I’ve travelled so much in my life! We go to so many lovely golf courses and meet so many amazing people from the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation.
“I was obviously not allowed to play in Arab tournaments before, and now I can, which is an incredible factor as well.”

Moroccan Adam Bresnu – Harry Grimshaw
One of the moments that stood out to Mullane recently was watching his close friend, Adam Bresnu, make history at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Bresnu became the first Arab-born golfer to make the cut in a Rolex Series event, and Mullane was quick to acknowledge how inspiring that achievement was.
“I was watching Adam Bresnu last week at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. It was amazing to see what he did for Morocco and Arab golf that week against such an impressive field, so that’s really inspiring.”

Sam Mullane with brother, Jay, caddying
This week, Mullane will have his brother, Jay, on the bag—a family affair for the pair.
“We’re pretty much on the same level, but just having him here to bounce ideas off when we’re out on the course is going to help me a lot. No one really knows my game better than him!”
Sam tee’s off Thursday morning at 08:50 local time, alongside China’s Zihao Jin and South African Deon Germishuys.
