LIV Golf’s Tyrell Hatton is set to make a return to the DP World Tour in next week’s Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at The Belfry, the first point earning event for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage next September.

The Englishman will be playing in his first DP World Tour event since the 2024 Hero Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club in January, before he then made a surprise move to joining LIV Golf in a deal worth in the region of $60 million, reportedly 10 times less than his Legion XIII team member and captain John Rahm.

Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm worried they might not be able to play for Europe in the 2025 Ryder Cup after joining LIV Golf, but since they’ve also kept their DP World Tour membership, there is a path forward for them – Maddie Meyer/PGA of America

Hatton has been vocal about wanting to make Luke Donald’s team next September, having already competed in three prior Ryder Cup’s and having claimed them as “the most special weeks of our lives.”

On paper this isn’t an issue as the 32-year-old never resigned his DP World Tour membership. He will just have a very busy looking calendar for the remainder of this year and next year with LIV Golf.

Although, with sanctions planted on him from the DP World Tour for joining LIV Golf, he and his fellow LIV members are still waiting the outcome of his appeal.

The six-time DP World Tour winner won’t be able to defend his title at the Rolex Series’ BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September due to it clashing with the LIV Golf Team Championships in Dallas, but Hatton plans to be back on the DP World Tour a week later at the Open de Espana from 26-29 September.

Before then returning once again to the DP World Tour in October, for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which he is a two-time winner of. Also an event that Rory McIlroy has confirmed that he will be competing in alongside his father Gerry at The Home of Golf in St Andrews.

Currently sitting in 82nd spot in the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, thanks to his finishes in this year’s majors. Hatton will also be looking to play himself into the top 70 players on the rankings to qualify for the DP World Tour’s new Playoff series which starts with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links on Saadiyat Island. An event he has won before in 2021, albeit at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Before then moving onto the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates the week after for the top 50 members.
