Donald Trump is a busy guy, and so is his organisation.
With the Trump’s already having Trump International Scotland’s Championship Course up-and-running for over a decade, the plan was to always extend the Aberdeenshire property for a further 18 holes.
The current links in Aberdeen has created plenty of attention and raised many eyebrows with its top-quality layout. It recently was posted at 34th place in Golf Digest’s Top 100 golf course (outside of the United States) while the upcoming MacLeod Course, named in honour of Trump’s Scottish mother Mary, has been designed and constructed to the same high standards.
Although it hasn’t been the easiest journey for the Trumps. They had to jump through various hoops and appease numerous councils with planning approvals, the organisation eventually broke ground on the new MacLeod Course back in May 2023.
In August of this year, Eric Trump, EVP of The Trump Organisation announced that the links was “on track to create the greatest 36 holes on earth”. Fast forward to now, and there have been further updates!
“Since breaking ground with President Trump and Eric Trump last spring, we have made extraordinary progress,” said Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President of Trump International, Scotland.
“This course is unlike any other links course ever built and is exceeding every expectation. There are very few great stretches of developable links land in the world as good as this.
“A truly remarkable, world-class team of architects, engineers, environmental scientists and industry specialists have been working tirelessly in the background – etching out every square inch of this phenomenal piece of land to create one of the great wonders in the world of golf.”
John Daly, close friend of Donald Trump, also had his say on the property after playing it on the Legends Tour last summer, “Trump Aberdeen’s new course it is one of the most spectacular links courses you are ever going to find in the world! It’s beautiful!
“I had the opportunity to see it firsthand this year and can’t wait to return and play it!”
With Eric Trump very much in the driving seat when it comes to all things golf-related, his father still likes to keep his eye on the layout of the land, seen here in this promotional video released last year by Trump International on the construction process.
