‘The Fog,’ ‘The Mist,’ ‘The Others.’ These are all horror movies about supernatural mysteries lurking within perfectly natural patches of fog. No matter what terrors those films may depict, however, they pale in comparison to not being able to see the hole on a three-foot par putt.

Eerie stuff. We’ve all encountered a fog delay or two over the years, but not quite like this. Clearly, Mother Nature brought out the big guns at Crans-sur-Sierre on Thursday, and that’s quite a shame given the tournament’s setting. Nestled down in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the course offers some of the best views in all of golf, but on Thursday, golfers could barely see past their own shoelaces.
Sadly, it doesn’t appear things will be clearing up much during the opening round, but here’s hoping Friday brings clear skies, not more monsters in the fog.
