Tommy Fleetwood extended a PGA Tour record he’d like to not have by recording a 42nd career top 10 without a win with his latest runner-up at the Travelers Championship on Sunday. But it gets even more painful when you take a closer look at his final putt.

In case you missed it, Fleetwood, who held a three-shot lead after 54 holes at TPC River Highlands, was still leading by one and in the middle of the fairway on the final hole. But a poor approach shot led to him having a seven-foot par putt that he missed. And moments later, Keegan Bradley made one from nearly the exact same line but about a foot closer to snatch an eighth PGA Tour victory.

It was a tough two-shot swing, made even more brutal by the fact that the seven-time DP Tour winner is still looking for a maiden PGA Tour title. And then you can add another layer of misery on top of that when you really watch that final miss and notice that Fleetwood’s golf ball clearly hit something on the way to the hole that redirected it to the right. Something that longtime PGA Tour caddie Kip Henley pointed out on Twitter:

Oof, that’s rough. Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee clearly saw this video as well and said, “I feel bad for Tommy.”

So do we, Brandel. Heck, even Keegan would feel bad if he noticed that.

Of course, these things have a way of evening out over the course of 72 holes. But we wouldn’t blame Tommy for thinking the golf gods have something against him for some reason.
