Rai and Ravenscroft take 2023 International Pairs event
Pranav Rai and Oliver Ravenscroft racked up 47 points to win the first event of the 2023 International Pairs hosted at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
A field of 104 golfers competed in the pairs stableford format, a JGE members-only event on the Fire course in a shotgun start.
Ravenscroft was the star of the show: shooting a personal gross 69 which included six gross birdies. The top three Pairs at each local event qualify for the UAE National Finals at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on March 9, 2024.
Tied second on 45 Points were Vidur Sethi (14) and Bose Prathap (19) and Mike Wilson (5) and Paul Ludlam (13).
The winning Pair of the UAE National Finals go on to represent the UAE in the World Final of the International Pairs – the Race to Obidos in November 2024 at Royal Obidos Spa & Golf Resort and Bom Sucsso Resort in Portugal.
The next event in the UAE will be on Saturday September 16 at Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman.
Parvez claims 25th Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup
Emirates Golf Club’s Faldo Course played host to the 25th Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup on Saturday, with 91 competitors on course.
Scoring an exceptional 44 points, Parvez Ahmed took top spot. Commenting on the tournament, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin said: “Congratulations to all the participants and winners of this year’s Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup.”
The day’s best gross score came from Scott Hutton with 32 points. In the Ladies Seniors Division, Jung Hee Lee won with 39 points. The Ladies Super Senior was won by Kiyono Taniuchi again with 39 points. In the Men’s Seniors Division, Ahosk Ahuja representing Dubai Duty Free was the winner with an excellent 42 points. The Men’s Super Seniors was won by Ashok Kumar with 36 points.
Better than most for Juliette and Victoria
Jumeirah Golf Estates held their ladies hidden partner better-ball over the Fire Course. The conditions were humid with the heat climbing up throughout.
Juliette Castell and Victoria Buerk triumphed with 43 stableford points ahead of Lady Captain Evelyn Downham and Marta Balaguer on countback.
Mighty Mousa wins again
Mousa Shanaah bagged the UAE GEM International Amateur Golf Tour this weekend, thanks to an impressive one-under from the 16-year-old over the 54-hole event. Emanuele Galeppini finished second.
