Bryson DeChambeau, has most definitely found a new stage for his social media highlights reel this past Sunday: the White House.

The two-time major champion spent the day with President Donald Trump, as the pair took their shared passion for golf from the Oval Office to Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.

In footage shared by White House Special Assistant Margo Martin, DeChambeau was seen hitting shots from the South Lawn—landing them neatly on a temporary green set up just outside one of the most iconic buildings in the world.

I know, I didn’t even realise the White House had a cut-out golf green?!

Later in the day, the duo appeared together at Trump’s golf club, where the former president joked about their matchups. “It’s not a very pleasant experience for me,” said Trump. “I always considered myself a reasonably long hitter. My wife says, ‘Are you as long as Bryson?’ I say, ‘Yeah, sorta… it’s not close.’”

He also goes on to claim that Bryson is “probably the Number One golfer now, him and Scottie are right at the top” uh, what about Rory?

Despite having over a 45-year age gap between them, their relationship has grown in recent months, beginning when DeChambeau invited Trump to appear in a video for his YouTube series, Break 50 series. Trump returned the favour months later, bringing DeChambeau on stage during his Florida victory party in November, as you do.

The collab between the duo also comes in the context of DeChambeau’s multi-year contract with LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed league that frequently partners with Trump-owned courses. Donald Trump himself played in a LIV Golf event at his New Jersey property back in 2019.

The Trump-DeChambeau duo seems ready for more joint appearances. Where they’ll show up next is anyone’s guess.

It served as a nice little warm-up for Bryson ahead of his next event: the $20 million LIV Golf Virginia tournament, which tees off this Friday.

A PGA Tour delegation of Tiger Woods, Adam Scott and commissioner Jay Monahan met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, as Trump and the tour continue to negotiate a potential deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. PIF governor H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan was also in attendance. The PIF has a heavy American presence this week, as the Future Investment Initiative Institute Priority Summit, backed by Saudi Arabia, is happening in Miami.

Following the afternoon session, the tour released a joint statement from Monahan, Woods and Scott:

“We have just concluded a constructive working session at the White House with President Trump and H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump, we have initiated a discussion about the reunification of golf. We are committed to moving as quickly as possible and will share additional details as appropriate. We share a passion for the game and the importance of reunification. Most importantly, we all want the best players in the world playing together more often and are committed to doing all we can to deliver that outcome for our fans.”

After the meeting, Woods also made an appearance with Trump at a White House reception for Black History Month. Trump asked Woods to speak and acknowledged Scott and Monahan being at the White House, telling the crowd: “We had some interesting discussions.”

Last week, Monahan met with the media at the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines and expressed optimism that a deal with PIF—originally announced as a framework agreement on June 6, 2023—was close to coming to fruition. Monahan, along with player representative Scott, met with Trump two weeks prior, which Monahan called a “productive visit” and asserted the goal was for “the game of golf operating under one tour with all the top players playing on that one tour.” When asked if that meant the end of LIV Golf, Monahan referred to the “reunification of the game.”

“Candidly, that’s what fans want,” Monahan explained. “So when you talk about reunification, that’s all the best players in the world competing with each other and against each other.”

The commissioner’s comments were noteworthy, as there has been belief in golf circles that—should the tour and LIV’s financial backer ultimately finalize a peace treaty—the entities would remain separate in some capacity in order to appease United States government anti-trust regulations. While that may still come to pass, Monahan’s repeated insistence last week of a singular, unified tour could not be ignored.

“Listen, if you think about what the fans want, the fans want reunification. That’s what we’re focused on. We’ve operated in a world where there’s more than one and the PGA Tour has performed very well,” Monahan said. “But in the long run, is that the best thing for fans? Is that the best thing for the game? We’re trying to solve it so everybody benefits.”

While Woods did not attend the previous meeting due to the passing of his mother, Woods also expressed conviction about a possible deal when appearing on CBS Sports’ final round coverage of the Genesis Invitational.

“Jay and Adam did great during the meeting. And we have another subsequent meeting coming up,” Woods said. “So I think that things are going to heal quickly. We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. We’ve been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years. The fans want all of us, all the top players playing together. And we’re going to make it happen.”

Trump was brought into the negotiations earlier this month at the tour’s insistence. There has been belief that the Department of Justice under Trump would be more willing to greenlight a potential PGA Tour-PIF deal. Shortly after the 2024 election, Trump played a round of golf with Monahan in Florida. Helping matters as well is Trump’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and LIV Golf. Trump has had business ties with the Saudi league since its emergence in 2022, with LIV hosting events at Trump venues in New Jersey, Florida and outside of Washington, D.C.

When asked if the tour may incorporate Trump properties into the tour’s plans going forward, Monahan replied, “We’ve played at Trump venues in the past. While we haven’t talked about that with the president, I certainly see a day where we’re adding Trump venues to our schedule.”

When he’s not battling it out against the Democrats in the presidential race, I’m sure Donald Trump would prefer to be on a golf course.

Golf is the number one hobby of the former president of the United States, and it has recently taken him to filming a “Break 50” YouTube video with Bryon DeChambeau, “A great guy.”

Even with the White House slamming the former president’s attack on Kamala Harris identity as ‘repulsive’ and ‘insulting’, he still found time to record a video message to promote the over 50’s “Legends Tour” golf event being played in Scotland, albeit on one of his own golf courses.

Trump International Golf Links – David Cannon/Getty Images

The Staysure PGA Seniors Championship hosted by Colin Montgomerie is actually the Legends Tour’s flagship event, and it gets underway today in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the Trump International Golf Links. Donald’s son, Eric, mainly heads up the golfing aspects of the Trump Organisation.

The video is obviously another “positive” push for both Donald and also gain some traction in the tournament, as the 78-year-old delivered a near-flawless video message.

Admittedly, as he was listing off the professionals he did get them mixed up with the celebrities who play alongside them in this tournament format, “outstanding players, great players.” I’m sure former Westlife band member Brian McFadden would love that compliment!

Trump didn’t manage to dodge this one. Take a look:

As Donald mentioned, teeing it up in the tour’s longest-serving event, is host Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, John Daly, Michael Campbell, Paul Lawrie to name a few. Monty even hit the opening tee shot to open the golf course back in 2012, “a special guy, and a special player.”

“Big” John Daly, a close friend of Donald and who supposedly hits the ball 360 yards according to Mr Trump… was waxing lyrical about the resort layout. So much so, that the two-time major winner wants to relocate to the Ayrshire coast and “pick up a zip code.” All while rocking a Trump Scotland hat of course!

When the majority of the Legends Tour was bought out by Ryan Howsam, CEO StaySure Group, it has had a major shake-up.

The over 50’s Legends Tour now offers amateur golfers the opportunity to play along the pros and celebrities within the tournament. Howsam obviously has a spot for himself in the Amateur Individual events.

The Celebrities then have their own season-long rankings where they play for the “Charity Celebrity Series”.

This week’s 18-hole stableford event was won by former Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who has donated £10,000 to his chosen charity the Kilbridge Hospice.

A trio of Hall of Fame golfers—Annika Sorenstam, Babe Didrikson Zaharias and Gary Player—will receive the United States’ highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on Thursday from President Donald Trump.

W.L. Pate Jr., president of the Babe Zaharias Foundation, is expected to accept the medal in honour of Zaharias, who died in 1956.

The medal is described as a recognition of “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavours.” Only four other golfers have received it: Arnold Palmer (2004), Jack Nicklaus (2005), Charlie Sifford (2014) and Tiger Woods (2019). Trump awarded Woods with the medal shortly after he won the 2019 Masters.

The White House announced in March that Sorenstam and Player would receive the honour, but Zaharias is a new addition.

Sorenstam, 50, dominated women’s golf from the mid-1990s through the mid-2000s. The Swede amassed 72 official LPGA Tour wins, including 10 majors, and was named player of the year a record eight times. She stepped away from playing full-time professional golf in 2008 and has since focused on philanthropic and business pursuits.

Zaharias is widely considered one of the finest athletes ever, having won gold medals in the 80-meter hurdles and javelin throw at the 1932 Olympics—all before she took up golf in 1935, at the age of 24, then became perhaps the greatest woman’s golfer in history. Like Sorenstam, she won 10 major championships and completed the Grand Slam in 1950, winning all three women’s majors at the time. She holds the distinction as the only woman ever to make a cut in a PGA Tour event, which she did three times.

Known as the “Black Knight” for his penchant for wearing all black, Player was one-third of golf’s “Big Three” alongside Nicklaus and Palmer. The South African is one of five players ever to complete the career Grand Slam by winning all four men’s majors, and he is the only non-American to have done so. He won 160 tournaments worldwide, including nine majors, and since his retirement he has remained an active presence in the game. He has designed over 400 golf courses worldwide and is the founder of the Player Foundation, which seeks to provide underprivileged children with access to education.

Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player are joining the shortlist of golfers who have received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The White House announced on Friday that Sorenstam, a 10-time major winner on the LPGA Tour, and Player, one of only five players to win the men’s career Grand Slam, will be honoured on March 23 by President Donald Trump.

“It is an overwhelming feeling. I am grateful, I am humbled, I am moved, and I am blessed,” Sorenstam said in a tweet.

Sorenstam, 49, a native of Sweden, is the first female golfer to be a recipient, as well as the first female who is a naturalized citizen to receive the honour. Player, from South Africa, joins other members of golf’s “Big Three,” Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The other golfers to receive the honour are Tiger Woods and Charlie Sifford. Woods received his Medal of Freedom from President Trump in April 2019.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest honour a civilian can receive. The White House explains honorees as having “made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavours.”

Sorenstam dominated the LPGA Tour in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning 72 times, before retiring in 2008. In 2003, she made history by becoming the first woman since 1945 to play in a PGA Tour event, the Bank of America Colonial.

Sorenstam became a citizen of the United States in 2006, and during retirement, she has put her efforts towards the Annika Foundation, which, along with creating golf opportunities for young women, has goals to promote a healthy lifestyle, education and community.

Player, 84, won 24 times on the PGA Tour, nine of those coming in majors. He, too, started a foundation: the Player Foundation, which works to raise funds for underprivileged children.
