Grant Forrest secured his second DP World Tour title with a comfortable four-shot victory at the Nexo Championship.

The Scot carded a level par final round of 72 in tough conditions at Trump International Golf Links to finish on eight under par and triumph for the first time since the Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews four years and two days ago.

The 32-year-old has catapulted to 28th on the Race to Dubai Rankings and into pole position on the Closing Swing Rankings with only next week’s Danish Golf Championship to play.

Forrest has also secured a bonus $10,000 for his course record 66 on Friday after the Course Record Presented by Nexo prize was launched earlier this week. In a one-off for the Nexo Championship, he also earned an additional $50,000 in NEXO Tokens.

The Scot entered the final round with a three-shot lead but had to be patient once again as he fought through his first three holes in level par, with Todd Clements birdieing the opening hole to cut the gap to two.

He was fortunate to escape without dropping a shot at the third when wayward with his tee shot at the par-three hole, however, by the fourth, Forrest was leading by five.

He narrowly missed his eagle putt, which would have been only the second one of the week, as he climbed to nine under, while Clements slid down with a triple bogey on the same hole.

That left Kristoffer Reitan as his nearest challenger at four under, but Forrest extended his advantage when birdieing the short par-four seventh to reach double figures, before another gain at the tenth.

He eventually signed for a closing 72 to finish with a total of eight under par, four ahead of Joe Dean who parred the last to claim second place as only nine players finished the tournament in red numbers.

Englishman Jordan Smith finished sixth at two under, while Finland’s Oliver Lindell and English pair Clements and Andy Sullivan finished seventh at one under.

After a two-week summer break in the DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai schedule, the Nexo Championship took place at Trump International Golf Links Scotland in Aberdeenshire from August 7-10.

The $2.75million tournament, which previously featured as part of the Race to Dubai in 2020, was the penultimate event in the Closing Swing, the fifth and final Global Swing which forms phase one of the DP World Tour’s 2025 season.

A host of DP World Tour winners teed it up in Aberdeen this past week, with home favourites Connor Syme and Calum Hill – who have both triumphed on the Race to Dubai this season – joined by fellow Scots Ewen Ferguson, Richie Ramsay and Grant Forrest on the Aberdeenshire coastline.

Englishmen Marco Penge and Richard Mansell also entered the DP World Tour winner’s circle earlier this year and were eager to double their tally in Scotland, alongside countryman and two-time winner Jordan Smith.

Rafa Cabrera Bello was hoping for more success in Scotland, having won his maiden Rolex Series title in 2017 at Dundonald Links, as he was joined by fellow Spaniards Eugenio Chacarra and Nacho Elvira.

HotelPlanner Tour graduates Martin Couvra and Kristoffer Reitan also pegged it up in Scotland as the pair are establishing themselves as two of Europe’s brightest prospects in 2025.

Grant Forrest powered to his second DP World Tour title with a comfortable four-shot victory at the Nexo Championship.

The Scot was in dominant form over the weekend in tough conditions at Trump International Golf Links to secure his first success since landing the Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews four years and two days ago.

With this victory, the World Number 294 climbed to the summit of the Closing Swing rankings with only next week’s Danish Golf Championship to play.

The DP World Tour started its Closing Swing last week with the Genesis Scottish Open, Scotland’s National Open, with an elevated Rolex Series prize fund of $9,000,000.

The top three players in the world – 2025 US PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler, 2025 Masters winner Rory McIlroy, and reigning Open Champion Xander Schauffele – were joined by the most recent Major Champion, with J.J. Spaun rising to number eight in the Official World Ranking following his victory at Oakmont last month.

Fellow Major winners Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa and European Ryder Cup stars Sepp Straka and Viktor Hovland round out the eight members of the world’s top ten to tee it up in Scotland’s national open.

World Number 14 Robert MacIntyre returned to defend his title, with the home hero joining his 2023 Ryder Cup-winning teammates Ludvig Åberg and Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Maverick McNealy and Harris English in ensuring 13 of the top 20 at the Renaissance Club.

European Ryder Cup Captain and former World Number One Luke Donald returned to Scotland as he prepares to lead his side against the United States for the second time this September.

Adam Scott, who finished runner up to MacIntyre in the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open, was one of a further nine Major winners in the field this year, alongside former European Ryder Cup Captain Padraig Harrington, Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Brian Harman, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Danny Willett and Gary Woodland.

A host of DP World Tour winners also teed it up, including Scots Connor Syme and Calum Hill – who have both lifted trophies on the 2025 Race to Dubai – and Ewen Ferguson.

Rolex Series winners in the field included Ryan Fox – who has triumphed twice on the PGA TOUR this season – the 2020 winner of Scotland’s national open, Aaron Rai, 2023 European Ryder Cup star Nicolai Højgaard alongside Paul Waring and Victor Perez – both winners in Abu Dhabi.

The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings and the FedExCup.

Chris Gotterup showed calmness and quality to hold off Rory McIlroy and win the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open by two shots.

The 25-year-old shared the third-round lead with the World Number Two, who claimed the title in 2023, and the pair went toe-to-toe in their bid for a Rolex Series victory at the Renaissance Club.

Nelly Korda has confirmed she will play in her first ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald Links from 24–27th July.

The World Number One and Olympic gold medallist at Tokyo 2020 has already amassed two Majors and a further 13 LPGA titles. A four-time member of the US Solheim Cup team, the 26-year-old first reached World No.1 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings in 2021, and has continuously held the top spot since March 2024.

Korda became the third woman in LPGA Tour history to claim five consecutive victories in 2024, a run which concluded with her claiming her second Major title at the Chevron Championship. She ended the year with a remarkable seven wins in 16 starts and notably, her first time being part of a victorious US Solheim Cup team.

Lauren Coughlin – 2024 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open – LET

Korda will join fellow US Solheim Cup member and defending Champion Lauren Coughlin at Dundonald. Coughlin won in magnificent style last year as she single-putted her last seven greens to finish four clear of a stellar field that included of 5 the world’s top 10 ranked players, 18 major winners, and 22 Solheim Cup players.

Korda commented, “I am delighted to be playing in my first ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open this year. Playing in Scotland always feels extra special with it being the home of golf and with all the amazing Scottish golf fans, so I am really looking forward to making my debut in July.”

The 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open marks the second year with ISPS HANDA as title sponsor and will be held at Dundonald Links for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament returned to this venue in 2022 after a multi-million pound makeover by owners Darwin Escapes to transform the club into one of the UK’s finest golf resorts. It was also previously held there in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Scottish Government and VisitScotland remain long-standing supporters of women’s golf, with a strong commitment to the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.

The Scottish Championship has been added to the DP World Tour’s 2025 global schedule, taking place at Donald Trump’s Trump International Golf Links Scotland in Aberdeenshire from August 7-10, 2025.

The $2.75million tournament, which previously featured as part of the Race to Dubai in 2020, will be the penultimate event in the Closing Swing, the fifth and final Global Swing which forms phase one of the DP World Tour’s 2025 season.

This announcement comes just two months after a second Donald Trump golf course was vandalised by pro-Palestinian supporters — first Trump Turnberry in Scotland, followed by Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, Ireland in March. Both acts were a direct response to the US administration’s stated intent to ethnically cleanse Gaza.

President Donald Trump has also been at the forefront of negotiations between the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund — the financial backer of the LIV Golf League — in efforts to achieve reunification.

It will be the first time the DP World Tour has visited Trump International Golf Links Scotland, which did hosted the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship in both 2023 and 2024 and will do so again from July 30 – August 3, the week prior to the Scottish Championship.

Report: Donald Trump urged to buy home of DP World Tour

Guy Kinnings, CEO of the DP World Tour, said; “Trump International Golf Links Scotland has already earned a reputation as one of the best modern links courses in the UK and it promises to be an excellent venue for the return of the Scottish Championship to our schedule.”

This significant milestone reflects the hard work of our team and is a true testament to the exceptional golf and hospitality we deliver in Scotland.”

It was a third win of 2025 for the Northern Irishman, following his victories at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and THE PLAYERS Championship on the PGA TOUR, and he will return to the Genesis Scottish Open seeking to add to that famous victory two years ago, when he produced a brilliant birdie-birdie finish to edge out home favourite Robert MacIntyre by one stroke.

McIlroy, who made history with his Genesis Scottish Open win as the first player to triumph in the national opens of both Scotland and Ireland as well as The Open, said:

“Winning a national open is always special, and I’m pleased to have the chance to compete for another Genesis Scottish Open title.

“It has certainly been a memorable year so far, and I’m looking forward to carrying on the momentum to the home of golf this summer.”

The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings and the FedExCup, and boasts Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from South Korea, as title sponsor. Genesis title-sponsors two tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s 2025 schedule, with the Genesis Scottish Open following The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines in February, won by European Ryder Cup star Ludvig Åberg.

The event benefits from the continued commitment of the Scottish Government and VisitScotland, and retains its place in golf’s global calendar the week ahead of The Open as part of these agreements through to 2025.

For nearly all golfers, the idea of playing The Old Course in St Andrews is the holy grail. For a select few golfers this year, that dream will become a reality. And not for $450 (£340), the typical peak-season rate for a round, but for just $50 (or £42.50).

The St Andrews Links, the organisation that manages and controls tee times at The Old Course, today announced that 179 tee times between May and October will be available for a discount of nearly 90 percent.

However, there’s a catch. Of course, there’s a catch.

The initiative, known as “The Drive” is designed to promote participation and widen access to The Old Course, as well as the three other courses in St Andrews: The Castle, The Jubilee and The Eden. The ballot for tee times, however, is only open to golfers who are residents in Scotland.

While international visitors will continue to apply for tee times at The Old Course in the ballot and pay the full green fee, 716 Scottish golfers will benefit from “The Drive” in 2025.

Octavio Passos

“As the Home of Golf, St Andrews Links Trust takes its responsibility to the sport incredibly seriously. That is why we are so excited to launch a new initiative offering golfers across Scotland the opportunity to play our historic and iconic courses at a lower price,” said Neil Coulson, chief executive of St Andrews Links Trust.

“Widening access to golf is a key objective for us, and over the coming years we hope we can continue to provide opportunities to golfers of all ages and abilities.”

The first stage of “The Drive” will begin on May 21, with 11 tee times at The Old Course being assigned to Scottish residents who applied through the website. Players can sign up as a solo or with one other golfer.

Octavio Passos

The St Andrews Links will also hold “themed days” throughout the summer as part of the new initiative, with days and tee times targeted to those working in the armed forces and frontline emergency services, as well as volunteers and disabled golfers.

There will also be family tee times available, where Scots can register up to four players for a tee time, with at least one of the group being under 18 years old.

“Golf has become increasingly popular in recent years and with this demand for our courses has surged to unprecedented levels,” said Coulson. “We will continue to ensure that our ticket holders and visitors have the best experience possible, while ensuring that one of the country’s most precious golfing assets is available for the public, too.”
