Joshua Grenville-Wood ended a frustrating stretch run of events today, as he grinded out a two-over-par 73 to secure a place in the weekend at The Dutch Futures and end a run of eight consecutive missed cuts on the HotelPlanner Tour.

Grenville-Wood, playing under the Emirates Golf Federation, had set himself up with a composed four under par 68 on Thursday. His second round work leaves him at one under par for the tournament and comfortably inside the cutline at The Dutch, where scoring has been uneven despite calmer winds today.

For the 27-year-old, who last played the weekend eight events ago in Spain, the result represents a welcome reset. His season has been marked by changes around his team and inconsistent form, but his ball striking and patience held up across two demanding days in Spijk.

“Yesterday I only dropped one shot and felt in control,” Grenville-Wood said. “Today was colder, the ball wasn’t going as far, and the pins were tucked, so it felt harder to score. The leaderboard might not show it, but to me today played tougher than Thursday.”

Currently sitting six shots off the lead, Grenville-Wood believes he has the freedom to attack more aggressively over the weekend. “I’ll just go out and try to shoot five or six under. Around here you need the putter to get hot because it’s tough to get close to some of these pins.

“The par fives are long — even I can’t reach a few of them — so it’s about staying in play and giving yourself looks with wedges. If I can roll a few in, who knows.”

The Dutch Futures offers a €300,000 purse and is one of the key mid-summer European events on the HotelPlanner’s Road To Mallorca. For Grenville-Wood, though, it is a step in the right direction.

“The game has felt good these two days. Now it’s about swinging free, having fun, and making the most of it.”
