The Albatros course at Le Golf National has grown from strength to strength, as it now plays host to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Home to France’s National Open for over two decades, the 2018 Ryder Cup venue and now site to the 2024 Paris Olympics – Le Golf National’s Albatros course, has achieved accolades in abundance since its inception less than 34 years ago.

Designed by architects Hubert Chesneau and Robert von Hagge, under the vision of the President of the French Golf Federation Claude Roger Cartier, construction commenced in 1987 on the outskirts of Paris.

The course always had one main design feature, and that was to create a stadium-like layout, making it fit to host world-renowned championships for players, spectators, media and television coverage.

Host venue of the French Open since 1991, a key marker on the DP World Tour’s global calendar, the golf course combines the traditional feel of a links course with the modern features of target golf.

Renowned for its links layout and slick greens, the final four holes which are surrounded by water, make the Albatros one of the top golf courses in Europe where, in 2018, the final act of the Ryder Cup drama was played out.

Does the stage get any bigger than the Olympics?
