PGA Tour players are wearing ribbons at this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge to honour victims of Tuesday’s shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

It is a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but a meaningful one, especially as the tournament is held at Colonial in Fort Worth — some 350 miles from Robb Elementary School, where 19 children and two teachers were killed and another 18 injured after an 18-year-old opened fire using an AR-15.

Along with the ribbons, tour players were encouraged to show support by writing Robb Elementary’s motto — “Live. Learn. Love. Lead” — on their hats, shoes and gloves.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan released a statement.

“The PGA Tour is heartbroken by the tragedy and lives lost at Robb Elementary School,” Monahan said. “The tour has such a strong presence in Texas — including this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge — and we are joining with our numerous Texas-based tournaments across all three tours in supporting VictimsFirst to assist families of the deceased and survivors.”
