A new PGA Tour event is coming to North Carolina.
The tour announced Monday that the Biltmore Championship in Asheville will debut during the fall in 2026. Set to be played at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove beginning Sept. 17, the Biltmore Estate and Explore Asheville will serve as co-title sponsors as part of a four-year agreement.
The area originally hosted the Asheville Open prior to World War II, with Ben Hogan winning the last three editions.
“After more than eight decades since the Asheville Land of the Sky Open, the PGA Tour is pleased to make its return to the Blue Ridge Mountains with the Biltmore Championship in Asheville, a proud name synonymous with the region,” said Tyler Dennis, PGA Tour chief competitions officer in a statement. “We are honored to partner with Biltmore Estate and Explore Asheville on this exciting new event and look forward to building a partnership that spotlights the strength and beauty of the area and its community.”
The news comes just weeks after the tour introduced the Good Good Championship in Austin, Texas as another new part of its autumn slate. Additionally, the Mexico Open is moving from the spring into the last week of October for 2026. Two potential causalities could be the tour’s event in Mississippi, as Sanderson Farms is no longer the sponsor, as well as the tour’s Napa stop. This week’s event in Bermuda has a multi-year title agreement through 2028.
The tour’s fall portion of the schedule is expected to stay in its current format where players who failed to reach the FedEx Cup Playoffs are battling for status for the following season.
