After an injury-plagued couple of seasons, Bryson DeChambeau quietly finished T-4 at last year’s PGA Championship. But there was nothing quiet about the 2020 U.S. Open champ contending at last month’s Masters. And on Thursday, he certainly made the crowds at Valhalla get loud with one moment in particular.

DeChambeau didn’t have much going through 15 holes of his first round at the 2024 PGA until he left himself a 50-yard pitch on the par-5 seventh hole. Then the LIV Golf star did this:

Boom. What a shot for eagle by Bryson—followed by an even better reaction. First the bow and then whatever this was to rile up the fans:

Quite a contrast from the ho-hum reaction Scottie Scheffler gave after his own eagle hole-out. Scheffler is the World No. 1, but Bryson remains near the top of the game’s unofficial rank of top showmen as we saw recently when he posted a video of him making birdie with a set of kids golf clubs.

And he’s climbing the leaderboard at a major again. DeChambeau birdied his next hole and finished with a three-under-par 68. A few more birdies—and bows—this week and the Bryson buzz could be all the way back to peak levels.
