The week after his stepdad, Tommy Fleetwood, claimed the silver medal at the Paris Olympics, Oscar Craig is set to tee it up once again on the Challenge Tour, this time in Scotland.

Following Oscar’s heroics at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in April after making the cut as an amateur in his first professional event. The 18-year-old amateur is teeing it up this week, once again on the Challenge Tour at Newmachar Golf Club for the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by the R&A.

The Jumeirah Golf Estates member has been lucky enough to gain just one of three amateur invitations to the 17th event on the 2024 Road to Mallorca as he looks to ride the success in the Fleetwood household through to the Challenge Tour event this week.

Last time Oscar tee’d it up on the Challenge Tour at the UAE Challenge in Abu Dhabi, he had the helping hand of Tommy on the bag. A memorable week for the Fleetwood’s in which Oscar was the only amateur to make the weekend, having qualified for the tournament by winning the Ras Al Khaimah Men’s Open back in February.

Having recently finished at GEMS First Point School (FPS) in Dubai, Oscar was a member of the FPS Golf Centre of Excellence as plans now to take a year out to continue to train and play in UAE before attending a U.S. College.

The Challenge Tour is a familiar place for the Fleetwood’s, with Tommy having claimed his maiden Challenge Tour victory in 2011 at the Kazakhstan Open, en route to topping the order of merit and graduating onto the DP World Tour where he is a seven-time winner.

The Fleetwood family relocated to Dubai two years ago and set up shop at the DP World Tour venue, Jumeirah Golf Estates, where Oscar is a member and practices out of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy under the watchful eye of coach Euan Bowden.

Who knows, with Tommy not playing this week on the PGA Tour, he might be making a trip up to Scotland to step in as a successful looper role.
