Nelly Korda has accomplished a lot during her impressive start to the 2024 season—winning six times in nine starts. In the process, the 25-year-old checked off another box rather quickly. Her success has allowed her to accumulate enough points this season to officially lock up a spot on the 2024 U.S. Solheim Cup team that will be competing at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club outside of Washington D.C., in September. It will be Korda’s fourth Solheim Cup.

There are a few ways to make the 12-woman U.S. Solheim Cup team. The top seven players on the Solheim Cup points list earn spots when the qualifying period ends at the AIG Women’s British Open at the end of August. Of the players who do not make the team via Solheim Cup points, the two who are ranked highest on the Rolex World Rankings will be named to the team. The last three spots are captain’s picks.

Korda has amassed 2,604 points since the qualifying period opened at the 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. That’s nearly double the amount of points compared to the American in second place, Lilia Vu with 1,467.5 points. Korda has so many points that no one can knock her out of the top seven.

Considering the year she’s had, it’s not entirely surprising.

In 2024, Korda has won six times, including a record-tying five in a row (only Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez have achieved that feat). The last time a player won six times in an LPGA Tour season was in 2013 when Inbee Park was dominating.

Korda’s Solheim Cup record is 7-4-1. She’ll surely be looking to add to the ‘matches won’ tally in September, as Team USA competes to win the Cup back from Team Europe. Europe won in 2019, again in 2021 and then a tie in 2023 resulted in Europe retaining the cup. This is the longest Europe has had the Cup in Solheim history. But Team USA has to be feeling good knowing the best player in the world and the most dominant player in golf is locked in.
