The Masters Par 3 Contest is something of an anomaly in pro golf. Holes-in-one are a dime a dozen, the etiquette is atrocious and guys go out of their way NOT to win. In an environment like that, it takes a lot to earn the attention of the masses, but don’t that tell that to Sammy Spieth. On Wednesday, Jordan Spieth’s first-born delivered the signature highlight of the 2025 Par 3 Contest with a single swing of his pint-sized driver. Watch it and weep tears of joy, for the Masters is finally, officially here.

Way to get your hips square, Sammy! Just like his old man, Sammy isn’t afraid to grip it and rip it. Though dear old dad did show some caution on Wednesday. By allowing Sammy to tee off on the 2nd hole, Papa Spieth became ineligible to win the Par 3 Contest. As the superstition goes, no one to ever win the Masters’ short-course showdown has ever gone on to win the green jacket in the same year, so clearly Jordan has his eyes on a bigger prize.

Will see if Spieth’s newfound pragmatism holds up on the course this weekend, but in the meantime it looks like Sammy will keep his dad’s endearingly chaotic spirit alive and well.
