In November of 2020, as the golf world prepared for an unprecedented Masters played in the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bryson DeChambeau had an interesting take on Augusta National.

DeChambeau posited, “I’m looking at it as a par 67 for me because I can reach all the par 5s in two, no problem. If the conditions stay the way they are, that’s what I feel like par is for me. That’s not me being bigheaded. I can hit it as far as I want to.”

In essence, DeChambeau was thinking each of the four par 5s were birdie holes and the short par-4 third hole was drivable as well. Problem is, when you make such a boast you better back it up. Instead, DeChambeau became Double-BogeyChambeau, making a pair of doubles as well as a triple bogey on his way to a lackluster T-34 finish.

Fact is, instead of being a par 67, Augusta National has proven to be a house of horrors for the 2020 U.S. Open champ. In six starts as a professional his best is a T-29 in 2019 and he has missed a pair of cuts. The less-than-hoped for results are a product of many things, but one thing stands out: DeChambeau is the master of disaster at Augusta National.

In his last 16 rounds in the Masters, DeChambeau has racked up an incredible 15 double bogeys or worse. The only Masters as a pro where DeChambeau has not has at least a pair of doubles was his first pro start in 2018 where he kept the card devoid of doubles for 72 holes. Other than that, well, it’s difficult to shoot 67 when you have crooked numbers on the card.

Here’s a rundown of all DeChambeau’s troubles in his Masters starts as a professional.
