Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the 87th Masters, citing a plantar fasciitis iinjury.
Woods, a five-time Masters champion, played 14 total holes on a cold and rain Saturday at Augusta National. After the second round was suspended on Friday afternoon, Woods returned Saturday morning and restarted at the 12th hole, hitting his tee shot inside five feet but missing the putt. He shot 74-73, making the cut on the number and tying the Masters cut streak record of 23 with Fred Couples and Gary Player.
I am disappointed to have to WD this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis. Thank you to the fans and to @TheMasters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!

That’s when the rain rolled in, and Woods began seriously struggling. With the inclement weather coming in, the club decided to go with a split-tee start, so Woods began his third round at the 10th. He played just seven holes in six over par, dropping all the way to last place at nine over. He made consecutive double bogeys at the 15th and 16th holes, finding the water each time, before the horn sounded. Per stats guru Justin Ray, that was an unfortunate career-first.

Late in the day, Woods did not appear to be in fine health. Multiple rogue videos found their way to Twitter of Woods’ limping from his shot to his bag, the cold temperatures clearly getting to him. No specific injury was cited, though it’s safe to assume everything hurt for the 15-time major winner.
The third round of the Masters will resume at 8.30am. local time. Thomas Pieters and Sungjae Im, Woods’ two playing partners, will finish their round as a twosome.
