Securing a tee time at Augusta National is the dream of most every golfer around the world. For 88 fortunate folks, they’ve done just that by earning a place in the field at the 87th Masters.
Just who they’re playing with was finally revealed on Tuesday as the club released threesome groups for the first and second rounds.
The question on many minds was how would Masters officials handle the 18 LIV Golf League players who are competing this week (17 now Kevin Na has withdrawn). Would they have them spread out among the entire field or have them play together in their own groups? It turned out to be the former with all the players, including high-profile pros Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith, competing in threesomes with PGA Tour or DP World Tour players.
A traditional pairing also became official with defending champion Scottie Scheffler (a Texas grad) was grouped with US Amateur champion Sam Bennett (a Texas A&M senior), which should make for some interesting banter as they walk the fairways. They’ll be joined by Max Homa.
And as for five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods? He will be playing with Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele.
Below are all the tee times for Friday’s second round. You’ll notice that the times have been moved up 30 minutes given the potential for bad weather. Now, let’s all cross our fingers the rain holds off.
