Ludvig Aberg will have arthroscopic surgery this week to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis.

Aberg, who finished 16th Sunday at the FedEx Cup finale (and T-19 in the gross leaderboard), has been battling knee discomfort for most of the 2024 campaign. He pulled out of the Wells Fargo Championship in May, returning the following week at the PGA Championship with a brace. Reports stated that Aberg had hurt his knee during a workout, although Aberg asserted what happened was “between me and my doctor” at Pinehurst during the U.S. Open.

Despite the injury Aberg remained competitive, finishing T-2 two weeks ago at the BMW Championship. Aberg had eight top-10s in 19 tour starts in 2024, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Masters, and finished seventh in strokes gained. He is currently fifth in the Official World Golf Ranking.

The Swedish star did not mention any procedure following his final round at East Lake on Sunday, and insisted he would play again this year.

“I’m probably going to kick my feet up quite a bit, make sure that I’ve got some time to recover, got some time to work on a few things, and I’ll definitely go play the DP World Tour in Abu Dhabi, Dubai,” Aberg said at the Tour Championship after a fourth-round 70. “Those are my plans right now. It might change. But that’s where I’m at right now.”
