The PGA Tour has released its tee times the first round of the no-cut, 39-man-field Sentry Tournament of Champions, the traditional competition to mark the start of the tour’s new year on the Plantation Course, Kapalua, in Hawaii.
Despite the odd number of players — meaning Adam Svensson is without a ‘champion’ playing partner — the PGA Tour bosses still could not find a spot or room in their hearts for defending champ Cameron Smith after his move to LIV Golf meant a ban from the circuit’s events.
Moving on, despite the absence of the likes of Smith, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, there are still a few spicy match-ups out there, with Scottie Scheffler — who is aiming to regain the world No. 1 ranking this week — paired with FedEx St Jude winner Will Zalatoris, while Jordan Spieth is out with Presidents Cup star Tom Kim, US Open champ Matt Fitzpatrick will play alongside DP World Tour Championship king Jon Rahm and Scottish Open winner Xander Schauffele is joined by two-time PGA Championship victor Justin Thomas.
