The Ladies European Tour (LET) is only into its third event of the 2025 season, and disaster has already struck its event roster.

The Tour is currently Down Under in the Southern Hemisphere, preparing for the start of a three-event swing in Australia alongside the WPGA Tour Australia, scheduled to commence on Thursday with the €350,000 Australian WPGA Championship.

However, it was announced last night by the LET and the WPGA Tour Australia that, due to the impending impact of Cyclone Alfred, “we have taken the unprecedented decision to cancel the tournament ahead of the first day’s play set to take place on Thursday.”

With predicted heavy rainfall, extreme winds, and flooding, the decision was made to ensure the safety of players, staff, fans, and all stakeholders at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club.

It looks like a few days of battening down the hatches for the ladies before next week’s Australian Women’s Classic, 300 kilometres south down the coast.

Weather also played a part in last week’s DP World Tour event in Durban, where the final round was cancelled due to torrential rain. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes, with a one-hole playoff deciding the eventual winner, Dylan Naidoo.
