We haven’t seen or heard much from Tiger Woods in recent months so it was nice to get a reminder of how good he used to be on Tuesday at the Tour Championship. Even if it served as a reminder for one of his best friends on the PGA Tour that if you come at the King, you best not miss.
Justin Thomas was asked about his most vivid memory of playing in the tour’s season finale and despite a strong record at East Lake including a pair of runner-ups, he recalled making a phone call from the 18th hole during a practice round. To Tiger. And, well, take it away, JT.
“Probably my best memory, and I couldn’t even tell you what year it was, it was probably—I guess it would have been 2020. I remember playing here, playing a practice round and walking down 18 and FaceTiming Tiger and—because he wasn’t here and didn’t qualify, just showing him how the course was and how great it was, and then he acted like his phone cut out,” Thomas said with a smile. “And then he called me back two minutes later with green jacket on. I remember that very, very, very vividly.”
Justin Thomas said he FaceTimed Tiger Woods in 2020 to remind Tiger that he didn't qualify for the Tour Championship.

Tiger pulling the fake dropped call to pull the green jacket out of his closet and dagger his pal is a wild move. Respect.
“Just a typical conversation of thinking I am having some kind of upper edge, and I get shut down and put in my place pretty quickly,” Thomas added.
Yeah, it’s pretty tough to trash talk someone who has won 15 majors and five green jackets. On second thought, it’s best to not come at the King at all.
