On February 1st – 4th, 2024 Jamie Camero will be representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the fifth edition of the Women ‘s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship (WAAP). Hosted at Siam Country Club, Pattaya, Thailand the WAAP field will be made up of the highest-ranked amateur women golfers in the Asia-Pacific.
The WAAP is overseen and organized by the R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) with the objective of discovering young up-and-coming and providing a pathway for elite female amateur golfers.
Jamie was identified by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and given the UAE Mission Passport in the summer of 2023. Starting in August Jamie will be playing collegiate golf at the University of Central Florida. After representing the UAE at the World Amateur Team Championship in last October Jamie is finding herself in good form coming into this highly anticipated amateur championship.
Jamie had this to say heading into this weekend’s championship. “I am super excited going into this weekend representing the UAE. It is a great honour and I’d like to thank the Emirates Golf Federation and my family for the support that I have received on this journey. I look forward to meeting and competing against the best women Asian amateurs on this elite stage”.
The winner of WAAP earns invitations to play in three major championships, the AIG Women’s Open, the Amundi Evian Championship, and The Chevron Championship as well as other elite amateur and professional championships.
