It’s tough to argue that the best part of golf is the conduit it provides to giving back. Billions of dollars are raised for charity every year through our great game—and each cause is worthy of praise. Few causes, though, offer the kind of high-level golf opportunities as the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer experiences auction does, and we’re proud to partner with them on this cause.

The annual Coaches vs. Cancer experiences auction is now live, and if you’re like us, a number of the high-end elite courses that are on our bucket list are available to be bid on. More than a dozen private clubs with initiation fees north of six figures have rounds available to the highest bidder, and the best part is, your money will go to a great cause.

Nine courses within Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Courses can be accessed through this charity, including the recently remodelled Olympic Club outside of San Francisco, which is set to host the 2028 PGA Championship and the 2032 Ryder Cup. Valhalla and Oak Hill Country Club, the two most recent venues for the PGA Championship, are also available, as is the venerable U.S. Open site, recently remodelled by Gil Hanse and his team, Oakland Hills Country Club (below).

That’s not even mentioning two of the fastest risers in our 100 Greatest rankings, Congaree, site of the 2022 and 2023 CJ Cups on the PGA Tour, and Sleepy Hollow Country Club, site of last year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur. They are two of the favourite courses played by this author.

And yes, as teased in the headline, you can bid on a round at Tiger Woods’ home club, Medalist Golf Club. Who knows, maybe you’ll see the GOAT in action?

You need to check out the auction and consider bidding on these fabulous opportunities. If you’re a college basketball fan, you likely know about Coaches vs. Cancer—and some of the most well-known coaches have donated their time and money to offer rounds with them at their home clubs as part of this. Lon Kruger at Southern Highlands outside Las Vegas would be our personal favourite.
