A total of 24 full-time LIV Golf League players competed in at least one major this year. With The Open at Royal Troon now in the books, here’s a quick review of how each player fared, along with their status for next year’s majors.
ABRAHAM ANCER, Fireballs GC
2024 Results: T58-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Made the cut in his only major start but is facing potential qualifying again for next year’s U.S. Open and Open.
DEAN BURMESTER, Stinger GC
2024 Results: T12-PGA, 69-U.S. Open, T19-Open
2025 Exemptions: PGA
Was disappointed in not making any noise in the final round of the PGA, but his top 15 did earn a spot next year. Looked like a contender going into the weekend at Royal Troon but succumbed to the poor third-round weather. Would love to make a good enough impression between now and April to be considered for a Masters special invite.
EUGENIO CHACARRA, Fireballs GC
2024 Results: MC-U.S. Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Earned a spot for Pinehurst through final qualifying to make his first major appearance but missed the cut by three shots. A good learning experience on a tough course.
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU, Crushers GC
2024 Results: T6-Masters, 2-PGA, 1-U.S. Open, MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
He won a second U.S. Open – and saw his popularity rise by sharing the trophy with fans – so it was a highly successful summer. And he made a spirited bid to sweep the three U.S. majors; no golfer played them better this year. But he still has work to do overseas. “I really don’t have the Open fully figured out yet,” he said.
SERGIO GARCIA, Fireballs GC
2024 Results: MC-Masters, T12-U.S. Open
2025 Exemptions: Masters
Missed by one shot of earning a top-10 spot and automatic berth into next year’s U.S. Open and was disappointed at not qualifying for Royal Troon. Says he has added appreciation for majors now that he’s having to go through qualifying, and he’ll continue to chase those two majors next year. Will make his 100th career major start at next year’s Masters.
TALOR GOOCH, Smash GC
2024 Results: T60-PGA
2025 Exemptions: None
A breakthrough of sorts, with the PGA of America becoming the first major organization to recognize success in the LIV Golf League by extending a special invitation to the 2023 LIV Golf Individual Champion. Said Gooch: “It’s so cool seeing what the PGA of America did because they were the first to say, ‘You know what, we’re going to rise above all this; we’re going to hopefully be that beacon of hope for the rest of the game.’”
TYRRELL HATTON, Legion XIII
2024 Results: T9-Masters, T63-PGA, T26-U.S. Open, MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: Masters
The final round of the Masters was good – a 69 that moved him inside the top 12 to earn a spot next year. Final round of the U.S. Open was not-so-good – a 77 that dropped him out of the top 10. And the Open … well, best to forget that.
LUCAS HERBERT, Ripper GC
2024 Results: T43-PGA
2025 Exemptions: None
Received a special invite to play the PGA and opened with three rounds in the 60s. He’s made the cut in each of the last four PGAs.
SAM HORSFIELD, Majesticks GC
2024 Results: MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Advanced through final qualifying to earn a spot at the Open, his only major start in the last two years.
DUSTIN JOHNSON, 4Aces GC
2024 Results: MC-Masters, T43-PGA, MC-U.S. Open, T31-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
Has said all summer that the game has been solid, but the scores aren’t reflecting it. “I’ve been playing better than what the results have been,” he said. Described his Masters performance “the best 78 and 79 of his career.” Did shoot a final-round 66 at the PGA, the lowest final round score of his major career.
MARTIN KAYMER, Cleeks GC
2024 Results: T73-PGA, T64-U.S. Open
2025 Exemptions: PGA
The last year of his 10-year exemption for winning the 2014 U.S. Open has run out, so his only guaranteed major moving forward is the PGA. One bad round in each of his two starts this year cost him a significant leaderboard position.
BROOKS KOEPKA, Smash GC
2024 Results: T45-Masters, T26-PGA, T26-U.S. Open, T43-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
Only LIV Golf player to make the cut in all four majors this year, but that’s no consolation for the five-time major winner. His third-round 74 took him out of any chance at Valhalla, and a third-round 78 in tough weather conditions did the same at Troon.
ADRIAN MERONK, Cleeks GC
2024 Results: MC-Masters, MC-PGA, MC-U.S. Open, T50-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Avoided the shutout by making the cut at Royal Troon. Said the transition to LIV Golf – and a coaching change – impacted his first-half play. In better form now, but unfortunately, he has no guarantee of future major starts moving forward.
PHIL MICKELSON, HyFlyers GC
2024 Results: T43-Masters, MC-PGA, MC-U.S. Open, T60-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
Has two years left of guaranteed entry into the U.S. Open, and he’s set for the other three (at the Open until he turns 60). Not much to celebrate this year, but he was the second-oldest player to make the cut at Royal Troon.
JOAQUIN NIEMANN, Torque GC
2024 Results: T22-Masters, T39-PGA, T58-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Received special invites for the Masters and PGA and had the Open spot due to his Australian Open win. Disappointed not to do more with the starts. Currently leads the Individual Championship points standings; will be interesting to see if the majors reach out to him next year.
ANDY OGLETREE, HyFlyers GC
2024 Results: MC-PGA, 79-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
Wrist problems have derailed his 2024 season, and that was certainly apparent in his two major starts this season, although he did well to make the cut at Royal Troon. Could be headed for offseason surgery, so uncertainty surrounds his future beyond the LIV Golf season.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN, Stinger GC
2024 Results: MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: Open
Has shown excellent form in LIV Golf this season but couldn’t transfer it to his only major start this year, missing the cut by two shots.
DAVID PUIG, Fireballs GC
2024 Results: MC-PGA, 55-U.S. Open, MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: None
LIV Golf’s second-youngest player is finding a way to get into majors, utilizing three different exemption routes this season. Like his Fireballs teammate Chacarra, the experiences will help moving forward.
JON RAHM, Legion XIII
2024 Results: T45-Masters, MC-PGA, WD-U.S. Open, T7-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
Didn’t get a win but was pleased to play well at Royal Troon after his struggles the previous three months. Never made noise in his Masters defense, missed the cut by one at the PGA and a foot infection prevented him from playing at Pinehurst. The par 5s were a head-scratching issue – he was 3 over on the par 5s at Troon, and even par on the par 5s for his 10 major rounds this year.
PATRICK REED, 4Aces GC
2024 Results: T12-Masters, T53-PGA
2025 Exemptions: Masters
Another nice showing at Augusta National – he has four top 12s in his last six starts since winning in 2018. Received a special invite for the PGA. Scheduling issues prevented him from competing in the U.S. Open qualifier.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL, Stinger GC
2024 Results: MC-Masters
2025 Exemptions: Masters
Missed the cut for the sixth time in his 14 starts since winning the 2011 Masters and missed out on qualifying for the Opens.
CAMERON SMITH, Ripper GC
2024 Results: T6-Masters, T63-PGA, T32-U.S. Open, MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: All four majors
Now two years removed from his Open victory at St Andrews, he had another top-10 finish at the Masters but was otherwise a non-factor. He was “quietly confident” going into Royal Troon but was on the bad end of the draw and opened with an 80. Year-long issues with his driver continue to plague him.
HENRIK STENSON, Majesticks GC
2024 Results: MC-Open
2025 Exemptions: Open
Missed the cut by two shots at Royal Troon, the course he won on in 2016.
BUBBA WATSON, RangeGoats GC
2024 Results: MC-Masters
2025 Exemptions: Masters
Missed his second consecutive Masters cut as he continues to search for form since returning from knee surgery last year.
ADDITIONAL PLAYERS
Current LIV Golf reserve player John Catlin, filling in for injured Crushers GC’s Charles Howell III, made the cut at The Open for the first time in four career major starts, finishing a strong T16 … Former Wild Card player Laurie Canter also made the cut at Royal Troon and finished T25.
