The Asian Swing continued as the DP World Tour returned to the beautiful but punishing DLF Golf and Country Club for the USD $2,550,000 Hero Indian Open.

Eugenio Chacarra arrived as defending champion after claiming his maiden DP World Tour title on just his ninth appearance last year, recovering from a rocky start to his final round before pulling clear with a brilliant birdie burst to win by two shots.

Hero MotoCorp global ambassador Akshay Bhatia teed it up for the first time in India on debut, drawing large galleries, while the home fans had plenty of local talent to support, including fellow Hero ambassador Rayhan Thomas. Yuvraj Sandhu, who earned his DP World Tour card by topping last season’s Professional Golf Tour of India Order of Merit with seven wins, was also in the field alongside two-time DP World Tour winner Shubhankar Sharma and a strong group of Indian players.

Jordan Gumberg came into the week after claiming his second DP World Tour title to top the early Asian Swing Rankings and was joined in the field by Jorge Campillo, Adrian Otaegui and Marcus Armitage, who all sat inside the top five in the Swing standings.

Casey Jarvis made his final start before his Masters debut and was joined by fellow 2026 DP World Tour winners Nacho Elvira, Freddy Schott, Dan Bradbury and David Puig. Major champion and Ryder Cup hero Francesco Molinari made his second consecutive start, while his brother Edoardo returned from a thumb injury that had sidelined him since August. Andy Sullivan, Julien Guerrier, Calum Hill, Campillo, Armitage and Angel Ayora all arrived in strong positions on the Race to Dubai Rankings in a bid to maintain their momentum alongside Gumberg.

DLF G&CC once again proved to be as demanding as ever. The previous season had seen just three players finish under par, with only the par-five fourth and par-four ninth playing under their respective pars. Since the Tour first visited in 2008 for the Johnnie Walker Classic, scoring has consistently been tough, with an average round of 1.25 over par. While there have been thousands of birdies and a handful of eagles recorded over the years, they have been outweighed by a heavy tally of bogeys and worse. Moments of brilliance have still surfaced, including albatrosses at the fourth and 18th and a number of holes-in-one, underlining the unique challenge of a layout where the contest between player and course rarely disappoints.

Alex Fitzpatrick surged to his maiden DP World Tour victory after a stunning final nine holes to overhaul defending champion Eugenio Chacarra at the 2026 Hero Indian Open.
